This surreal bronze walking elephant statue was inspired from the paintings, prints and sculptures of Salvador Dali.  The mighty elephant, widely regarded as a symbol of strength and power, is contrasted in this sculptural work of art with spindly legs creating the idea of weightlessness with structure.  The elephant carries an obelisk on his back.  This surreal creature would make a creative addition to your home or office.

The iconic long-legged elephant first appeared in Salvador Dali’s work in a 1944 painting entitled “Dream Caused by the Flight of a Bee Around a Pomegranate a Second Before Awakening.”  The elephant would next appear in his famous 1946 painting “The Temptation of St. Anthony.”    In this painting four elephants carry symbolic objects representing temptation.  One elephant is carrying an obelisk which would be later be known as the Space Elephant.
