The original Statue of Liberty is a colossal neoclassical sculpture located on Liberty Island in New York Harbor, United States. It was a gift from the people of France to the United States and was dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue was designed by French sculptor Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, with the framework designed by Gustave Eiffel. The statue represents Libertas, the Roman goddess of freedom, and symbolizes the friendship between France and the United States as well as the American ideals of liberty and democracy.
The Statue of Liberty is one of the most iconic landmarks in the world and a symbol of freedom and hope. It stands at a height of 305 feet (93 meters) from the base to the tip of the torch and weighs approximately 450,000 pounds (204 metric tons). The statue’s crown features seven rays, representing the seven continents, and she holds a torch in her right hand and a tablet in her left hand inscribed with the date of American Independence, July 4, 1776. The Statue of Liberty is a national monument and a significant part of American history.
