This spectacular bronze bust statue features Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte (23 ½” H.) after Renzo Colombo (Italian/French, 1856-1885.) The bust captures Napoleon gallantly looking ahead in military dress. His famous bicorn beaver pelt hat turned parallel to his shoulders, with the tricolor cocarde attached to silk ribbons with a button. Napoleon’s profile was instantly recognizable to French soldiers, most of whom were devoted to him. This sculpture came from a Southern California collector who appreciated Napoleons military genius and the Napoleonic era.
Napoleon Bonaparte, born to a poor Corsican family, rose through the ranks of the French army to become the most famous French emperor of the time. Alternatively thought of as a champion of the French people or as a despot who exploited the Revolution for his own ends, Napoleon unquestionably possessed unique military genius and charisma.
The sculpture is mounted on a black marble base. It is in excellent condition.
